Job overview

Due to retirement, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to join North In-Patients CBU as Administration Officer (acute ward), based at St Georges Park Hospital, Morpeth.

The post holder will support Ward Manager to provide an effective and responsive admin service assisting with performance data such as off-duty rosters, training, holidays and sickness monitoring.

This is a part time permanent role, 18.75hrs per week working Monday to Friday inclusive.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate proven experience in the following:

  • Experience in a customer service/patient/service user focused environment
  • Secretarial skills working within a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Typing/keyboard skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office/Word/Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to be self-directed, motivated and contribute positively within a team
  • Ability to manage and maintain office systems
  • Ability to deal with exposure to highly distressing or emotional circumstances
  • Expected to participate in all relevant training courses appropriate to the role

  • Collate data and information to produce reports
  • Organise training events as directed
  • Manage ward staff  holidays/study leave/sickness, etc
  • Maintain ward staff off-duty roster
  • Communicate effectively with wide range of staff

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Word-processing skills at Level 3 (OCR/RSA Level 3 or equivalent qualification and/or demonstrable relevant experience) eg; NVQ Level 3 Level 3 in Business Administration (or equivalent)
  • Audio Typing qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience
  • General level of education to O-Level/ GCSE or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • RSA Level 2/OCR Level 2

Experience

  • Minute taking experience
  • Diary management and organisational experience
  • Knowledge of NHS Policies and Procedures
