Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Maintenance Craftsperson to join our Estates Department at St Nicholas Hospital in Gosforth, Newcastle.

Main duties of the job

An electrically bias maintenance craftsperson to work as part of the site based Estates Department which operates and maintains a wide range of engineering systems across a range of healthcare premises.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Completion of a recognised electrical apprenticeship
  • Good knowledge of Estates maintenance
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety legislation
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge on legislative development
  • Good communication
  • Good self motivation
  • Good time management
  • Flexible approach to timekeeping
  • Ability to prioritise workloads
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Must be able to meet the mobility requirements of the post.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Some Estates experience within the healthcare sector
  • Broad experience of all related Estates activities – multi skilling
  • Experience to an intermediate level of theoretical knowledge of electrical engineering programs
  • Previous practical experience in electrical engineering installation service maintenance and repair in at least 4 of the following areas: Laundry and catering equipment, Emergency generator plant, Fire alarms, Emergency lighting and UPS systems, Compressors, Portable electrical equipment, Experience of cross-trade working flexibility on mechanical, Large scale electrical distribution systems (1&3ph LV)

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 5 GCSE’s or equivalent
  • City & Guilds in an Electrical related subject
  • 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations or most recent update
