Main duties of the job
The main duties for this position include maintaining and optimising the hospital's network and communication systems. Main duties include troubleshooting network and telecom issues, configuring and managing routers, switches, and servers, ensuring secure and reliable data transmission, and supporting VoIP and telecommunication systems. The role also involves monitoring network performance, implementing upgrades, and ensuring compliance with NHS data security standards to support seamless clinical and administrative operations.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To develop, maintain and deliver a EMIS/Medicus systems programme including systems development, upgrade roadmaps and training programmes. Sharing system management standards, guidance, best practice and other related legislation.
Ensure the organisation successfully manages the risks associated with systems and the data held and processed by these through Trust wide standards and compliance with those standards.
Take a lead in the implementation of EMIS/Medicus and other clinical systems across the Trust.
Provide expert advice and guidance to managers, health professionals and other relevant members of staff on capability and effective use of Clinical Systems.
Liaise with all levels of staff across the organisation service users and external stakeholders to coordinate, investigate, respond to and deal with system developments, upgrades and faults.
The post holder will act as the Senior EMIS/Medicus Systems Lead responsible for receiving alerts when Centrally managed systems have severity one faults, using own judgement following investigations, provide recommendations for the most appropriate actions to be taken, and instigate the appropriate escalation plan.
Leads reviews and advises on systems faults and business process issues providing root cause analysis and recommendations for improvement both internally and to external suppliers.
Working with the Clinical Systems Manager, implement strategies and plans to promote and develop good practices within the organisation for the management and development of Trust systems.
Lead on all ongoing EMIS/Medicus project work, manage workloads and resource allocation.
Provide project management and business analysis skills to assist in the implementation of IT systems, ensuring effective management and minimised risk in the Trust’s systems migration plans.
Assist in the development, management and coordination of robust system upgrade programmes within the organisation ensuring all change controls and business continuity plans are reviewed on a regular basis.
Develop and deliver flexible interactive training programmes on a regular basis to incorporate new members of staff and refresher training for existing staff in effective system use, data quality and data standards subjects working with services to ensure all staff are accommodated.
Ensure that training material is updated, if required, following the investigation of breaches against Trust Policies and legislation.
Ensure business continuity plans are tested with the services and where necessary updated to reflect changes.
Negotiate with users any adhoc training requirements which may be identified by following investigations of breaches.
Provide expert advice on Clinical System strategies and complex system issues which may impact on Patient safety processes, Information Security, and Information reporting within the Trust.
Implements national/local standards/definitions/policies in own and other areas proposing changes to working practices as a result of updated definitions etc.
Develops, implements and adapts information systems within own area to enable provision of regular reports and communications on Clinical Systems matters
Develops, implements and adapts information systems to record and manage System issues and fault ensuring Service Level agreements are being managed with the supplier.
Working with the Clinical Systems Manager develop and implement a robust and effective audit cycle, providing comprehensive reports of findings, detailing recommendations, and action plans to the Digital Assurance Group for the monitoring of information security, integrity and data quality against agreed policies by undertaking inspections and audits of systems within the organisation.
