Job overview

If you are friendly, conscientious and interested in  working in Domestic Services  at Wansbeck General Hospital,  NHFM would like to hear from you. You will be required to maintain the standards of cleanliness as specified throughout the work areas, by means of approved methods.

We have several position available, covering a variety of shifts predominantly between 7am and 7pm. 

Other hours may also be available and we are also looking to recruit to our staff bank.

Main duties of the job

Able to complete a range of routine work procedures such as:

Cleaning of floor areas as scheduled by means of vacuuming, mopping, buffing and spray cleaning.

Undertake deep cleans in areas where infection is present.

Removal of rubbish including domestic and clinical waste from designated areas to disposal point.

Cleaning of sanitary areas, toilet, sinks, shower cubicles and staff changing areas.

Damp dusting of all surfaces, ledges, shelves, curtain rails.

Cleaning of internal glass.

Taking down and putting up of curtains.

Scheduled cleaning of chairs.

To wash walls (shoulder height) fitting and windows where required.

Use all equipment and materials in a correct and safe manner.

Report all faults queries or problems to the  Manager/Domestic Supervisor.

Maintain high standards of cleanliness in all work areas.

Carry out any urgent spot cleaning and spillage.

Any other duties as deemed appropriate.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Basic Food Hygiene and/or Level 1 Food Safety Certificate or must be achieved within 6 months of start date
  • Basic Numerate & Literate Skills
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level 1 or 2 or equivalent
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
