Job overview
To support the Bowel Screening Wales Optimisation an exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated nurse to join the specialist Bowel Screening Wales Team based at Swansea Bay University Health Board.1 posts at 30 hours. We are offering a permanent opportunity for the right candidate to become a band 6 Bowel Screening Wales Specialist Screening Practitioner. The role involves being part of a multidisciplinary team delivering the highest standards of evidence based care in the delivery of the Welsh Bowel Screening programme. You will be the first point of contact for participants who have received a positive screening test and will provide specialist advice, support and continuity to the participant throughout their pathway. This includes making an assessment of fitness for colonoscopy, attending colonoscopy, managing the results handling process and referral to the multidisciplinary team if appropriate.
You will be supported to develop knowledge and assessment skills related to specialist bowel screening care for patients.
Applications are invited from nurses who have over 6 years post registration experience in gastroenterology endoscopy or colorectal surgery as well as excellent interpersonal, communication and IT skills.
You will need to work flexibly within the team which provides a 7 day specialist practitioner service and evening shift cover across both Swansea Bay Hospitals and Hywel Dda Hospital sites.

- Registered Nurse Level 1 (Active NMC Registration)
- 6 years post registration experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to travel between hospital sites
Desirable criteria
- Experience in endoscopy or gastroenterology
- Experience of pre assessment
- Excellent IT skills
- Presentation skills
Experience

- Sufficient post-registration experience
- Clinical experience in Colorectal/Gastroenterology Oncology or acute clinical setting
