The salary scale above has been agreed as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2024/2025 and will be implemented in November 2024 backdated to 1st April 2024 where applicable.

Job overview
The post holder is required to assist in the efficient and safe delivery of the Decontamination of Endoscopes within the department to ensure a seamless quality services for patients undergoing an endoscopic procedure. 1. Ensure that all endoscopes are decontaminated and available for use when required. 2. Liaise with clinical staff to ensure that an appropriate endoscope is available for elective and emergency procedures. 3. Effectively exchange routine information with colleagues. 4. Liaise with all members of the Endoscopy team to ensure that all endoscopes are cleaned in accordance with infection control guidelines, manufacturers guidelines, and in accordance with the Health Board policies and procedures relating to the use of this equipment 5. Ensure that all endoscopes are decontaminated using the appropriate auto disinfector in accordance with manufacturers guidelines 6. Ensure that Endoscopes are in full working order and prepared for the next patient. 7. Assist clinical staff in ensuring that daily equipment checks are undertaken and data regarding this is stored in accordance with departmental guidelines 8. Ensure the correct storage and traceability of decontaminated endoscopes using appropriate mediums ie paper and IT. 9. Assist in the organisation of the repair of endoscopes and decontamination equipment in a prompt fashion to ensure that the service is run efficiently and to ensure that an audit trail is recorded.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Carry out specific delegated personal care tasks and responsibilities to a high standard and competency, under the direction and supervision of a Registered Practitioner/Assistant Practitioner, report observations and any perceived changes noted in the patient's condition to the nurse in charge without delay.
• Support the Registered Practitioner/Assistant Practitioner in the delivery of the fundamentals of care according to the needs of the patient. This will include providing feedback on progress against the plans.
• Recognises and effectively responds to emergency situations escalating support from the Registered Practitioner in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Promotion of Independence and Wellbeing
• Assist patients/ clients to achieve physical and emotional wellbeing and comfort encouraging independence where appropriate. Promotes health promotion activities relevant to the specialty.
• Respect the privacy, dignity, needs, beliefs, choices and preferences of patients and carers, when caring for terminally ill or elderly patients especially when using wheelchairs, trolleys , beds or hoists
Ensure valid consent is obtained prior to undertaking care procedures.
• Delivering Safe and High-Quality Care, recognise issues relating to safeguarding vulnerable adults/children and report any problems or raise concerns to the appropriate Registered Practitioner in a timely manner.
• Identify situations which may cause concern e.g. in relation to patient care / health and safety and reports to the Registered Practitioner in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Develop understanding of caring for individuals relevant to specialty e.g. dementia, mental illness, learning disabilities relevant to area of practice.
• Undertakes additional champion/ link roles relevant to speciality and as requested by ward / department manager.
• Contribute to the improvement of service by reflecting on own practice and supporting that of others.
