Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Occupational Therapy Technician within our Vale Community Learning Disability team.

The successful candidate will support the Occupational Therapists, providing specialist assessments and therapeutic interventions to individuals with a learning disability. Supporting individuals to live independently in the community and  providing specialist advice.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated with excellent communication skills.  We therefore are seeking a dynamic, flexible and motivated Occupational Therapy Technician to join us in Swansea Bay University Health Board.

Main duties of the job

To be a fully engaged member of the Occupational Therapy Team providing a service within a defined area, supporting the therapists with clients who may have complex needs in a range of settings including; hospital community, patients homes, schools and outpatient settings.

To take responsibility for implementing and managing aspects of the assessment and the care and treatment programme as delegated by the Occupational Therapist in line with service protocol and frameworks.

To promote independence, health, wellbeing and safety within the community and inpatient settings adapting the clients social and physical environment to support the individual’s optimum function.

Maintain clinical records and report accurately to others.

Carry out administrative duties in relation to clinical, service and departmental needs.

To participate in CPD and develop skills and knowledge through participation in developmental activities including completion of the Diploma of Occupational Therapy Support.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply

Essential criteria
  • Quality Credit Framework qualification at level 3 e.g. NVQ or OCN related to Health & Social Care
  • Documented evidence of participation in training activities

Experience

  • Understanding of the role of occupational therapy
  • Relevant experience working within health, social or teaching settings
