Job overview

The role in Surrey Heartlands requires the development and implementation of the Surrey Heartlands Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisations strategic delivery plan in relation to antimicrobials, ensuring it develops in line with local, regional and national directives. Incorporating antimicrobial strategies across whole care systems pathway work, providing expert pharmaceutical advice and guidance to staff working at all levels within Surrey Heartlands. To work within the Surrey Heartlands Antimicrobial and Infection Prevention and Control structures providing expertise in relation to medicines optimisation in prescribing antimicrobials promoting safe, clinically and cost-effective prescribing within Surrey Heartlands.

 

The post holder will be required to communicate in an appropriate way, highly complex information with a broad range of stakeholders including Board members, primary and secondary care prescribers, and patients to achieve the optimum use of antimicrobials within our system.  This role requires strong expert leadership in areas where there are often significant barriers to acceptance when discussing prescribing policies with prescribers.

Main duties of the job

This role will lead strategic redesign and delivery in relation to antimicrobial medicines optimisation across Surrey Heartlands.  It will require working across complex patient pathways in collaboration with system stakeholders across primary, secondary, community and social care.

  • Member of GPhC
  • Post Graduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma/MSc qualification or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • Qualification as Independent prescriber
  • Experience of managing a team (Formal management qualification)
