Children and Young Person’s Clinical Lead

NHS Frimley Integrated Care Board was formed on 1 July 2022 under the Health and Care Act 2022, replacing NHS Frimley Clinical Commissioning Group.

The ICB is the new statutory NHS organisation responsible for planning and delivering health and care services. It will work collaboratively with partner organisations including the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector, people and communities across the Frimley Health and Care Integrated Care System (ICS).

NHS Frimley East Berkshire’s CCC and Shared Funding Team is positively developing its services and investing in a brand new post. We are seeking to recruit a Children & Young Person’s Continuing Care Clinical Lead who is highly motivated, very well organised, and an experienced Registered Children’s Nurse to work with our team. This new role joins with the CCC team at an important time as we work together to address the emerging needs of children with complexities that can’t be met by NHS universal services. As well as supporting the clinical manager to ensure high quality provision of CCC, you will provide clinical oversight for children and young people who receive individual ICB funding.

         Line manage a small team of nurses to ensure that all assessments and reviews are undertaken in a timely manner, in accordance with the National Framework for CYPCC.

     Take day to day operational responsibility for the smooth running of the CYPCCC and Shared Care pathways and processes.

         Be responsible for implementing National Policy and the Framework for NHS Children’s Continuing Care on behalf of Frimley ICB.

        Coordinating the ICB Clinical Review Group to ensure robust clinical need led funding decisions.

        Overseeing the coordination of the Integrated Resource Allocation Panel (IRAP) with Local Authority and Education Partners.

      Verifying Decision Support Tools completed by Children’s Nurse Assessors before the IRAP panel presentation.

       Support the Clinical Review Group in providing clinical scrutiny and challenge to referrals received from local specialist health, education, and social care services.

      Supporting children and young people who do not meet CYPCC criteria but have complex needs which cannot be met by universal services.

         Responsible for managing a caseload of complex, individual packages of care for children and young people who are in receipt of NHS funding. This will include effectively monitoring and reviewing the quality of commissioned care, and liaising closely with children, families, and carers.

You will be a key member of the team and will need to demonstrate skills in IT, report writing, managing complex patients. You will also have excellent verbal and written communication and have the ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines.  You will be working in partnership with our local authorities and experience of multi-disciplinary working is essential. 

A current driving licence and vehicle used for business use will be required.

  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area.
  • Registered with the NMC: RN Child/RSCN, with extensive experience of working with children and young people in community or acute setting.
  • Experience of working within and commissioning Children’s complex care/Continuing Care packages.
  • Post-graduate degree in Management Studies or equivalent
  • Significant experience of successfully operating in a politically sensitive environment
  • Evidence of continued professional development
