Job overview

This full-time post is for a Locum Consultant in General & Paediatric Surgery who will join the existing Surgical Team delivering care across Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.

This role is based at Wexham Park Hospital, however there will be a requirement to travel to other trust sites as and when required (namely, Heatherwood Elective Centre)

The job is full time post comprising 10 Programmed Activities (PAs).

Competencies

Essential criteria
  • Able to demonstrate effective leadership skills

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • FRCS or equivalent registration
  • Full GMC registration
  • Possession of CTT or within six months of receipt at the date of interview

Experience

Essential criteria
  • A wide grounding during training of all aspects of emergency surgery
  • Experience of teaching clinical skills to undergraduates and postgraduates
  • Understand principles and participated in audit activity
  • Understand the principles of Clinical Governance and demonstrate experience of evidence-based practice.
  • Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical and surgical problems
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of Research Activity or Higher Degree
  • Completion of recognised College specialty training in sub-speciality
  • Completion of teaching course
  • Undertaken research with published papers in refereed journals.
  • Experience of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy
  • Emergency surgery course
  • Sub-specialist interest
