New staff members are well supported through a comprehensive induction programme, including preceptorship for newly qualified nurses or nurses who are new to specialty. The Neonatal Unit at Wexham Park Hospital is a Level 2 Neonatal Unit made up of 2 Intensive Care, 3 High Dependency and 12 Special Care cots. The unit cares for babies over 26+6 weeks gestation and stabilises any baby under that gestation, to be transferred to a tertiary hospital/ NICU.
Our team aspires to provide high quality and evidence based; clinical, developmental and family integrated care in order to ensure the best outcomes for the babies we care for and their families.
Main duties of the job
- To provide the highest quality care for babies and their families.
- To assist the senior nursing staff in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of paediatric care for an allocated group of patients from admission through to discharge or transfer.

- Registered Nurse /Midwife/Child Branch/RSCN
- Evidence of continuing education & professional development
Desirable criteria
- Degree in Nursing or other relevant field or can demonstrate experience of working to this level
- Mentorship qualification
- Specialty qualification - Intensive Care of the Newborn or equivalent
- Child Protection Training
Skills
Essential criteria
- Able to prioritise and work in an organised way with excellent time management skills
- Proven oral and written communication skills
