New staff members are well supported through a comprehensive induction programme, including preceptorship for newly qualified nurses or nurses who are new to specialty. There are plenty of opportunities for educational support and career development. We are also passionate about ensuring the health and wellbeing of all our staff. 

The Neonatal Unit at Wexham Park Hospital is a Level 2 Neonatal Unit made up of 2 Intensive Care, 3 High Dependency and 12 Special Care cots. The unit cares for babies over 26+6 weeks gestation and stabilises any baby under that gestation, to be transferred to a tertiary hospital/ NICU.

Our team aspires to provide high quality and evidence based; clinical, developmental and family integrated care in order to ensure the best outcomes for the babies we care for and their families. 

 

Main duties of the job

  • To provide the highest quality care for babies and their families.
  • To assist the senior nursing staff in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of paediatric care for an allocated group of patients from admission through to discharge or transfer.

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse /Midwife/Child Branch/RSCN
  • Evidence of continuing education & professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Degree in Nursing or other relevant field or can demonstrate experience of working to this level
  • Mentorship qualification
  • Specialty qualification - Intensive Care of the Newborn or equivalent
  • Child Protection Training

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Able to prioritise and work in an organised way with excellent time management skills
  • Proven oral and written communication skills
Desirable criteria
  • IT Literate
