The Neonatal Unit at Wexham Park Hospital is a Level 2 Neonatal Unit made up of 2 Intensive Care, 3 High Dependency and 12 Special Care cots. The unit cares for babies over 26+6 weeks gestation and stabilises any baby under that gestation, to be transferred to a tertiary hospital/ NICU.
Our team aspires to provide high quality and evidence based; clinical, developmental and family integrated care in order to ensure the best outcomes for our babies and their families.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Neonatal nurse who is passionate and enthusiastic about Neonatal care to join our team.
Main duties of the job
Wexham Park Neonatal Unit are seeking a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our friendly leadership team. The team is led by the Matron for Neonates and a Senior Sister. You will join a team of Junior Sisters to help provide strong leadership within the Neonatal team. You will be expected to lead shifts, provide skilled nursing care, undertake appraisals, sickness management and other management duties. You will also work alongside the Practice Development Nurse to ensure the junior team achieve competencies and professional development.
We are actively involved in the Thames Valley and Wessex Neonatal Network and participate in several work groups to standardise and improve care. We also have a close working relationship with the Neonatal Unit at Frimley Park Hospital and are aiming to align policies and procedures cross site to facilitate this. We are family centred and are working toward achieving Baby Friendly Initiative accreditation. We actively encourage breastfeeding and parent involvement.
You must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills required for this position as stated in the job description. You will be pro-active in the unit’s development, have a keen interest in the development of others, and be able to demonstrate ongoing professional development and up to date knowledge.
