Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Frimley Health and work within the Haematology service at the Wexham Park Hospital site.
We are looking to recruit a dynamic, enthusiastic and self motivated nurse to join our Haematology clinical nurse team for 22.5 hours a week for a 1 year fixed term contract
You will be joining our Team as a Band 6 Haematology nurse. This is an exciting opportunity for you to join a well established team and to gain experience within this speciality.
The post holder will act as a Keyworker for patients with a variety of Haematological malignancies. Supporting them through their diagnosis, treatment and survivorship pathways. They will play a pivotal role in the patients journey; being a point of contact offering support and advice for a variety of treatments and complex interventions. Our patients are cared for as inpatients on our Haematology ward, receiving chemotherapy on our day unit or on an active monitoring pathway. All of these patients require specialist nursing input, the post holder is required to have excellent communication skills to be able to support our patients.

- Manage a caseload of patients, for a defined group of patients, with a new diagnosis of a haematological cancer
- Develop and demonstrate advanced practice in the holistic assessment and management of Haematological cancer patients. Signposting and referral to appropriate teams and services
- Provide specialist advice to support ward staff when patients are admitted ensuring all medical and nursing needs are understood and carried out in accordance with Trust standards and policies

Qualifications
Meini prawf hanfodol
- Registered General Nurse with current NMC Registration
- Degree in Nursing or willingness to work towards
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Awareness of the national cancer agenda and guidelines

- Advanced Communications Skills training
- Psychology Level 2 training
- Recognised Haematology/Palliative Qualification or willingness to work towards
- Chemotherapy Trained

- Relevant post registration experience at Band 5 or above
- Able to demonstrate utilisation of research-based evidence and recent use of audit
- Experience in Haematology cancer nursing

- Understanding of Macmillan Cancer Support and its role across the UK
