At Here for You, we are a team of qualified psychological practitioners,  offering expert, confidential psychological & mental health support for people working at Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Trust and partner organisations across Surrey. The service is also responsible for SIST (Staff Incident Support Team) and leads on responding with an appropriate trauma response, to incidents impacting our staff.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated senior clinical / counselling psychologist or CBT Therapist with strong leadership skills to join our small and friendly team of clinicians at Here for You delivering individual and team psychological interventions to staff. 

This is an excellent opportunity to use and further develop leadership skills within a committed and supportive team. Working both within our organisation and across the whole system; a keenness to develop new skills and to deliver a responsive and compassionate service is essential. This role provides excellent opportunities for developing supervision skills; learning and shaping system and partnership working; working closely with the Clinical and Service Lead.

Job Overview

To have a leadership role within the team of psychological practitioners providing a specialist psychological & mental health support service to eligible staff who are experiencing a need for psychological support due reasons both within work and outside of work. 

In particular:

·       To offer individual psychological assessment & therapy to referred staff.

·       To undertake high quality triage and risk assessment.

     Develop and deliver workshops using psychoeducational and reflective practice skills relating to the evidence base for psychological interventions with staff. 

·       As part of SIST (Staff Incident Support Team) service, to respond with an appropriate trauma response to staff impacted by a serious incident at work.

·       To work closely within Here for You team to regularly review our workshops ensuring we deliver evidence-based interventions using current best practice within a compassionate framework.

·       To ensure the clinical effectiveness of own practice and of service functioning by undertaking audit, research and service development activities relevant to the service area.

·       To proactively outreach to identified at risk groups of staff.

·       To work closely with Clinical and Service Lead and playing a leadership role in developing this service across the system & with our partner organisations.

·       To offer supervision to other members of Here for You team as agreed with Clinical Lead.

 Experience

 Essential

 

  1. HCPC, NMC or Social work England registered mental health professional  and BABCP accreditation if non-psychologist
  2. Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology

 

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in mental health NHS.
  • Excellent working knowledge of CBT especially around Trauma and of a holistic approach to care.
  • Experience of developing and delivering therapeutic interventions, running workshops and reflective practice sessions. 
  • Specialist understanding (through work and/or lived experience) of the impact of language, culture, gender, ethnicity & disability in shaping attitudes, abilities & difficulties.
  •  Demonstrable post registration/clinical experience and competency in the area of trauma.

·   Experience of contributing to clinical practice/service development / project work.

·   Experience of supervising assistant psychologist and/or other NHS professionals.

 

Desirable

· Experience of working within the area of staff psychological support.

· Experience of supervising trainee clinical psychologists.

· Experience of delivering Reflective Practice to teams

 

Suitable for someone who

 

Can demonstrate a passion for supporting NHS and social care staff who require psychological support and who is wishing to further develop their clinical skills in this area.

 

Someone who is able to work autonomously when required, and also as part of a small team delivering staff psychological support across the system. Has the energy and drive to develop evidence based & deliver culturally sensitive interventions. Works at all times within a compassionate and caring framework.

 

This position allows the postholder to bring their existing psychotherapeutic competencies to assessment, formulation and intervention. This supports the postholder in maintaining high accreditation standards and enables access to best practice.

 

Has the leadership skills required to support the on-going development of this new service. Excellent opportunities to further develop leadership and supervision skills and work across the system & with partner organisations.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

To provide specialist psychological and culturally sensitive interventions to NHS and social care staff who contact Here for You. 

 

To lead on developing and delivering workshops using psychoeducational and reflective practice skills relating to the evidence base and responding to the needs of our staff. In particular to develop bespoke workshops as and when required for individual organisations or teams.

 

To facilitate reflective practice groups with staff teams as and when required.

 As part of SIST service, to respond as required to serious incidents occurring in the trust where an appropriate trauma response is needed.

 

To work closely with the Clinical Lead to ensure high visibility of the service across the system, ensuring outreach to identified vulnerable staff groups, to be responsive to the needs of staff & the system.

 

To participate in face to face weekly multi-disciplinary meetings concerned with the delivery and development of clinical services and to contribute a wellbeing and psychological perspective as appropriate. To contribute to policy development working closely with the Clinical Lead and to the planning and development of service delivery in the Team through undertaking agreed project work, presenting at Trust and ICS conferences as required.

 

To offer clinical supervision to others in the team where appropriate.

 

To receive regular clinical supervision from the Clinical Lead in accordance with Trust Supervision Policy requirements.
