This role will act to ensure high quality and effective care for people who use our services is delivered throughout our Trust in accordance with our vision and values.

This post will lead on the next steps in the development and delivery of a robust quality management system across the Trust to drive improvement and our continuous learning. Accountable and responsible to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), the post holder will work largely unsupervised and will be able to credibly influence across the organisation and health and care system at the highest level. They will motivate and develop clinicians who are able to drive forward service transformation and quality improvement across mental and physical health care, both within our organisation and across organisational boundaries.

This role would benefit from a postholder who has strengths and skills in data insights and reporting to drive improvements across the organisation. This role would be suitable for someone wishing to be supported to develop into a Chief Nursing Officer role and will provide opportunities to operate at this level.

Main duties of the job

Key duties are as follows (please see job description for the full list):

The post holder will be required to build and maintain good working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders on a range of business sensitive issues and nurture key relationships with senior and high-profile individuals and responsible for the maintenance of productive networks both within and outside the organisation.

They will be responsible for managing several different teams/functions ensuring effective line management support – this will include but not limited to Deputy Caldicott Guardian, Mental Capacity Act, development of our Clinical Quality Priorities, Physical Health and Infection Prevention Control, Flu and Covid Vaccination Campaigns, Patient Carer Race Equality Framework implementation (PCREF), Nurse revalidation and continuing professional development, supporting university/placements/education.

They will also be responsible for leading regulatory standards compliance including CQC readiness across the organisation and ensure effective Trust wide quality governance and compliance systems of work are in place to support practice through the organisation and meet national CQC and other regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Professional Nursing Qualification and current registration
  • Master’s Degree in relevant subject or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of management/leadership experience with additional management qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant and substantial management experience at a senior level within the NHS or equivalent complex organisation
  • Experience of analysing complex quality performance data, providing insights following this analysis including themes and trends, write accurate, succinct, and logical reports to support understanding of achievements, risks and challenge
  • Experience and knowledge of quality management systems and how to optimise the system to drive quality improvement
  • Successful delivery of large-scale quality improvement programmes and significant change
  • Experience of planning, implementing, and evaluating quality and of using quality improvement methodologies
  • Extensive experience of Care Quality Commission and regulatory bodies requirements
  • Experience of human and financial resource management
