Surrey Downs Health & Care are looking for a Bank Band 6 Respiratory Physiotherapist to start immediately Monday to Friday 08:00-16:00 37.5 hours week. 

Support with the running of PR classes, assessment of patients with respiratory disease.

Main duties of the job

To work as a member of Surrey Downs Health & Care to develop and provide team to the community in order to provide a high standard of holistic assessment, treatment, evaluation and advice to patients with lung conditions in the community, including pulmonary rehabilitation assessments and classes.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

 To provide effective, efficient and high quality physiotherapy treatment programmes for respiratory patients in the community setting and within the pulmonary rehabilitation service. To lead assessments, group education sessions and exercise classes adjusting exercises according to patients’ health status on that day.

To be able to undertake oxygen therapy assessment and prescription (Long term oxygen therapy and ambulatory oxygen).

To act as a source of expertise on the management of respiratory patients providing support and advice to other health professionals/agencies both within and external to the Trust

To communicate with patients in a way that empowers them to make informed choices about the management of their condition and engages them in the planning and delivery of treatment. Taking into account cultural, linguistic, medical, emotional, psychological and physical factors and utilising available resources to facilitate effective communication.

To communicate complex patient related information effectively, to ensure collaborative working within the Multi-Disciplinary Team.

To liaise with all referring agencies to facilitate the provision of an effective and timely service.

Training & qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree or diploma in physiotherapy • Registered with the Health Care Professions Council • Up to date relevant knowledge through evidence of Continued Professional Development including attendance at recent post graduate courses relevant to the clinical field

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Relevant NHS experience • Experience of running a rehabilitation classes • Relevant Post graduate experience in respiratory physiotherapy/pulmonary rehabilitation • Broad range of experience at B5 • Appreciation of constraints to working in the community • Ability to supervise juniors/assistant/student s • Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate tasks • Ability to use electronic clinical system e.g. EMIS, Cerner • Experience of MDT working • Willingness to learn – especially
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant specialist respiratory care including respiratory outpatients, ITU, and medical wards • Experience of student supervision/ clinical education • Experience of undertaking post graduate research projects • Experience of operational team management • Experience of service development and change management
