This role is crucial in maintaining relationships with our local practices, PCNs and Federation, and work to ensure that there is a local link to the ICB primary care strategy in every area of Surrey Heartlands.

We are looking for an individual who enjoys working as part of a team and can demonstrate a commitment to improving  outcomes for patients and supporting our local general practice teams.

The successful applicant  will need to be able to work under pressure, be responsive to fast moving deadlines and maintain constructive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.

This is a varied and interesting role and you will be working in a dynamic and highly experienced primary care team, delivering  quality and innovative services across Surrey Heartlands.

The post holder will be based in Guildford with flexibility to work remotely. Noting that there will be a requirement to travel between office and practice locations across Surrey Heartlands.

Main duties of the job

In addition to supporting the PCNs, the Primary Care Commissioning and Development Manager will provide wider support across all primary care providers across Surrey Heartlands including dentistry, optometry and pharmacy. This role will lead on key projects or activities as required in a local Place area as well as across Surrey Heartlands. The post is responsible for facilitating a two-way flow of information between the ICB, the Place and the PCNs to maximise the success of the ICB’s clinical delivery model and ensure the  delivery of transformational change programmes, and the wider ICB strategic direction.

The Primary Care Commissioning and Development Manager provides practical administrative, managerial and organisational support to the local Place and wider ICB team. This includes line managing two members of staff as well as leading a wider group of team members through the matrix set up of the team.

Working for our organisation

Surrey Heartlands is a partnership of organisations working together – with staff, patients, their carers, families, and the public – to support people to live healthier lives. Surrey Heartlands developed into an Integrated Care Board (ICB) since July 2022, working through 4 Integrated, dynamic, and sustainable partnerships (ICP’s) , each working together to deliver a shared vision across Surrey. ICP’s aim to improve how local services are designed and co-ordinated for efficiency and benefit to the patient and service users. Each partnership is based on co-operation with our component partners, and focusing on local population needs, priorities and decision making.

The 4 ICP’s are known as:

  • North West Surrey Alliance
  • Guildford and Waverley Alliance
  • Surrey Downs Health and Care
  • East Surrey Place

We have an ambitious vision for transformation and continuous improvement of health and care across our footprint and to deliver our objectives we need a team of capable, collaborative professionals who share the same vision.  We are passionate about creating an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity. We know through experience that different ideas, perspectives, and backgrounds create a stronger and more creative work environment that delivers better patient outcomes. We welcome all applications, especially those from underrepresented communities, including people with a disability, and those from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds.
