Macmillan Specialist SLT Neuro-Oncology & Acute Medicine Team Lead

Band 7

Job overview

We have a fantastic opportunity for a suitably experienced SLT to join our friendly, supportive, clinically passionate, speech & language therapy team. The post holder will provide highly specialist speech & language therapy intervention as part of the Neuro-Oncology MDT as well as fulfil the role of team lead for the Acute Medical service. However, if there is a particular aspect of the role that appeals to you please contact the appointing manager to discuss as division of role could be considered.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in both acute medicine & neuro-oncology settings, and be confident in managing a wide range of patients, encompassing both complex dysphagia & acquired communication difficulties. They will be a fully competent videofluoroscopy & FEES Practitioner, and be able to work independently with patients with a tracheostomy. Experience providing education & training relevant to their clinical specialism would be beneficial. This is a team-lead post and so you should also have experience of supervising junior members of the SLT profession.

The successful candidate must work well under pressure, be passionate about high standards of patient care, and embrace the challenge of developing both services. Support will be available both internally, through regular supervision & peer support, and externally through access to relevant Clinical Excellence Networks (CENs).

You must be registered with HCPC and RCSLT for this post.

We offer a supportive environment with regular team meetings and a rolling in-service CPD programme.
