Job overview

The post holder will work as an integral member of this specialised team of nurses to provide one to one, enhanced care and supervision to either an individual patient or group of patients following an agreed risk assessment process.

Main duties of the job

Nursing care will require excellent communication and engagement skills, the ability to deliver therapeutic patient activities, to de-escalate and deal with potentially challenging situations and people.

To assist, under supervision with the delivery of nursing care in conjunction with the wider multidisciplinary team.

To act as a role model and foster a culture in which compassionate, personalised care is delivered consistently to vulnerable patients requiring one to one care or enhanced care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced healthcare assistant as part of the heightened surveillance team to provide one to one care for vulnerable patients. The suitable applicant will have excellent communications skills and be able to provide kindness and compassion to individual patients across the clinical area. You would be required to actively engage with patients that require enhanced supervision through therapeutic patient activities and engagement skills. You would be a valued member of the team and you will be expected to deliver high standards of patient-centered care showing empathy, patience and understanding at all times.

Essential criteria
  • NVQ 3 or equivalent training essential

Knowledge

Desirable criteria
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology & patient confidentiality
  • Ability to express an understanding of the key principles of infection control
  • Ability to express an understanding of audit
  • Experience of working with vulnerable people
