Job overview
- To provide robust support to TB service and working closely with TB nurse specialist
- To deliver a high quality, individually tailored empathetic advisory support to patients/ relatives and staff.
- To work closely as part of the TB service to deliver ongoing work to support the NHS Long term plan requirement
Main duties of the job
· To work closely with the TB services to develop and establish a robust, accessible and flexible support team for Staff and Patients.
· To be an integral part of the TB services to provide support to the team and to members of the public suspected or diagnosed with TB in Guildford and its catchment areas
· To be responsible for maintaining skills, knowledge levels and competencies required of a TB support worker and seek advice and support as and when necessary
· To ensure all information is fed back to your colleagues for auditing and monitoring purposes
· High level of interpersonal skills including well-developed abilities in client centred, non-judgemental confidential communication, negotiation, persuasion, motivational, empathetic, and able to provide advice around TB screening.
· Promote good relationships with patients, public and staff in verbal and written communication.
· Any other task commensurate with the role as required

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
There is an exciting opportunity arising within our respiratory division for a band 4 support worker role in TB service. The post holder will be working closely with the TB clinical nurse specialist and the Consultant.
We are looking for someone who has previous experience in an administrative role and has excellent IT skills. The role requires networking with other health care providers & involve patient advisory service. We expect the candidate to be an effective communicator.
This role will include answering telephones, contacting clients to make/change appointments, support clinic letters & audits.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Accredited smoking cessation qualification with the NCSCT at least 6 months experience in delivering smoking cessation support
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Experience of supporting smokers through the NHS quit programme
- Knowledge of smoking cessation theories and practice
- Ability to be able to support and communicate with people in an appropriate manner
Desirable criteria
- Motivational interviewing skills
