Job overview

We are seeking to recruit a B5 Research Nurse to join our oncology research delivery team.  This post is offered as a 12 month fixed term contract and will be reviewed following this (VISAs can only be supported on a 12 month basis in line with the fixed term contract.)  This is a fantastic opportunity for those who wish to experience working in a clinical research environment and contribute to improving patient care for the future.

Ideally we are looking for a nurse, with either research or oncology experience.

The post holder will be organised, have a flexible approach to work and be motivated to provide excellent clinical care with exceptional communication and organisational skills.

Main duties of the job

This role will offer an exciting opportunity to be based within the division, working closely with the multi-disciplinary team to support, develop and deliver research projects across oncology specialities within the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The role of the Research Nurse at The Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (RSCH) involves working with multidisciplinary teams to screen patients for research studies, monitor patients during studies, assist with clinical investigations as well as the collection and documentation of accurate data. As a band 5 research nurse you will work under the supervision of senior nursing staff and collaboratively with the multidisciplinary teams to manage a caseload of trial patients.

The role involves using an in depth knowledge of trial protocols and their application in practice alongside a working knowledge and compliance with local, national and international research regulations.

Essential criteria
  • NMC Level One Registration
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a small team, as well as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team.
  • Evidence of continuous personal, professional and academic development
Desirable criteria
  • Mentorship qualification
  • Relevant post registration qualification
  • Relevant diploma/degree

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience as a staff nurse or above working in clinical environment
  • Experience of multidisciplinary working and collaborating with other agencies
