Superintendent Plain Film Imaging and MSK plain film reporting training

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Radiology Leadership team. We are looking for an enthusiastic radiographer with significant experience in plain film imaging. You will work in the clinical environment and be responsible for the day to day management of the plain imaging service provision.
Additional to this, the department will fund and support your training in a Post Graduate certificate in plain film imaging reporting. When complete this will allow MSK reporting to become part of your regular weekly rotation.
Leadership experience will be essential. RPS would be desirable.
Opportunities for CPD are well supported including management and leadership courses as well as clinical development. All radiographers are expected to contribute to the training of our junior staff and students.
Main duties of the job
We are a busy GDH, a leading Cancer Centre and a minimal invasive Cardiac Unit offering both Cardiac MRI and CT.
The department comprises of 3 general rooms, a 2 room A+E department, MRI, ultrasound department, digital fluoroscopy, Interventional suite, maxillo-facial unit, digital mammography including a tomosynthesis unit and a Siemens Somatom CT scanner and x-ray room in our Oncology centre situated within the hospital.
The trust is currently undergoing a number of large development projects including the building of a new Surgical and Oncology unit which will provide 6 new operating theatres at our Guildford Site and a Community Diagnostic Centre at our Milford site which will house 2 brand new MRI scanners and a brand new CT scanner.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder is responsible for the day to day management of plain Imaging services and will be enrolled on training to complete a post graduate degree in Plain film reporting.
To ensure that the plain Imaging department is run efficiently & provides a responsive and effective service.
Complete Post Graduate certificate in MSK reporting supported by department

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- DCR or BSc in Radiography
- State registered
Desirable criteria
- Certificate of leadership or similar experience
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Awareness of IRMER Regulations
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Experience of leadership and training skills
- Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy/national guidance/CQC/ and appreciate the implications of this on engagement
- Knowledge of National Diagnostic targets
- Knowledge of relevant NICE Guidelines
- Extensive knowledge of plain film imaging techniques
Applicant requirements
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable people and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
