JOB PURPOSE

·         Maintain Medical Devices & Systems to the highest levels of performance, quality and integrity aligned to HPL requirements

·         Participate in Planned Maintenance Programme (PPM) across the EME portfolio, delivering the programme of PPM services.

·         Responsibility for delivery of EME service provision.

·         Bring a broad technical understanding and specialism supporting the wider EME team

JOB SUMMARY

 

To be responsible for the servicing and maintenance of a range of Medical equipment throughout RSCH and with external clients that HPL are contacted to support.

 

Provide input to the development and maintenance of a long-term strategy and road map for Medical Devices, including replacement of older legacy devices with current and future technologies

 

The role calls for someone from an Electronics / Instrumentation Engineering background, and as such the post holder will require knowledge across the range of technologies and services that fall under the responsibility of this post.

 

The role will frequently require the post holder to engage with infrastructure and business projects and the adoption of new technologies in line with business requirements.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Job Duties:

·         Proactive monitoring to ensure maximum uptime, reporting any downtime in a timely manner to the Head of Medical Engineering

·         Engagement with third-party vendors, including participation in service reviews, billing review, and escalation of issues where appropriate

  • The post holder must have a full understanding and knowledge of medical devices normally used in a hospital environment
  • The post holder must be able to move and carry equipment in excess of 20Kg
  • The post holder will be responsible for own day to day work load
  • The post holder must keep accurate records and update any work carried out by the post holder
  • Documentation of processes for use across EME departments by both technical and non-technical personnel
  • Provide guidance and technical training to junior members of the EME team

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree level education (equivalent professional qualifications such as HNC/HND plus relevant experience of operating at this level), plus extensive experience in medical equipment
  • Registration as Clinical Technologist or Scientist

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Able to support the development of the long-term strategic plan for the delivery and on-going support of the trusts Medical Devices. Recommending future products and services as these become relevant.
  • Experience of monitoring service providers, and able to negotiate and manage contracts to deliver best value for the trust
  • Experience of use of Microsoft Office applications e.g. Word, excel, outlook etc
  • Experience of working in the patient environment
  • Experience of repair & maintenance of highly complex Medical Devices and systems.
  • Experience with asset management and change control Processes
Desirable criteria
  • Extensive experience holding senior technical roles, preferably in NHS hospital environments
  • Experience of implementation of policies and procedures, in an ISO 9001 environment.
