Working 10 PAs (plus 1.25 PAs for on-calls) in our dedicated Ophthalmology Treatment Centre, it is expected that you will become fully involved in all aspects of the work of the Ophthalmic Department including involvement in its organisation. This will be under the supervision of the Department and will continue at a progressively increasing level of responsibility as agreed by the Ophthalmic Consultants. This post is available from as soon as possible and will include a weekend and out of hours on-call commitment.
Main duties of the job
Working in partnership with the MoD, we have an integrated military and civilian workforce. With 7 Consultants, 1 Associate Specialist, 7 Specialty Doctors, 1 Research fellow , 2 StR3+, 2 Speciality Trainee posts at ST1 and 2, and 1 FY2, you’d also be supported by a dedicated and enthusiastic nursing team incorporating many extended roles.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- DRCOphth, MRCOphth, FRCOphth or equivalent overseas qualification
- Full GMC Registration and a licence to practice
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience as ophthalmic ST1/2 (or equivalent) or higher grade since registration
- Experience in and participation in departmental audit
- Experience of working in a busy outpatient, accident and emergency and theatre of Ophthalmology.
Desirable criteria
- Special interest in medical retina
- Ability to undertake intravitreal injections
Skills
Essential criteria
- Able to work unsupervised
- Able to communicate clearly
- Able to teach junior staff

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
