Job overview

These roles are vital in assisting  physiotherapists in providing a high standard of service to in-patients  and to undertake duties to support the smooth functioning of the physiotherapy department and service. Assistants will generally rotate between clinical specialties / teams in order to gain a wide breadth of skills.

There are 2 roles available , one at Epsom and one at St Helier Hopistal

Physiotherapy Assistant Band 3


We are looking for two enthusiastic and reliable physiotherapy assistants to join our in-patient physiotherapy team working in at Epsom and St. Helier Hospital, assisting the physiotherapists in their work. 
This role will involve direct patient care, working with or under the supervision of a physiotherapist, on the hospital wards including critical care, and also administrative and other duties such as cleaning / sorting/ recycling  equipment, and inputting data into the computer.

Applicants should be committed to providing excellent patient care, be able to work as part of a team, have good communication skills, be physically fit to carry out the rehabilitative / mobility work required, and willing and able to take on new challenges, knowledge and skills.  This post is full time and includes additional weekend work on a rota basis.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Good Education GCSE 4-9
  • Evidence if strong IT skills
Desirable criteria
  • A Level/ BTEC/ NVQ
  • Experience in an acute hospital therapy department including work with elderly patients
  • Care Certificate initiation / completion

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Good written and spoken communication skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Demonstrates a good knowledge of the role of the physiotherapist

Personal Characteristics / Other

  • Flexibility
  • Physically fit for role, moderate to intense physical effort needed frequently
