Violence Reduction Trainer

This is a great opportunity to be part of a dynamic Education Team.

The post holder will work with the Violence Reduction Training Team in the responsibility for the delivery of all aspects of Personal Safety, Search, Violence Reduction and Physical Intervention training programme across the Trust. The post holder will support the Senior Violence Reduction Trainer to deliver safe practice via the SABP bespoke training model. The post holder will support the Violence Reduction Lead, to identify the need for and advise on the level of, training and support required within specific areas.

The post holder will assist in the delivery of a dynamic training programme which promotes confidence, competence and safety within a training environment to minimise risk, injury and trauma to both staff and the people who use our services. The role will predominantly deliver training for a minimum of 2 days up to 4 days of the week. Be responsible for observing and risk assessing to make evidence based recommendations to ensure good practice and promote safer services. Excellent verbal communication skills are required with the confidence and ability to present to all levels of the organisation.

Swydd ddisgrifiad a phrif gyfrifoldebau manwl

With support of the Violence Reduction Lead and Senior Violence Reduction Trainer, develop and deliver high quality training programmes for Violence Reduction, Personal Safety and Incident Reduction, and Search.

To work with the education team to schedule provision of courses, taking into account the demand, capacity and areas with high training need and low training compliance rates.

         Provide training, guided by training needs analysis, both independently and alongside other certified trainers to a range of Trust staff.

-       Manage training records in accordance with Information Governance, SABP policies, RRN procedures and legal requirements.

Support the Violence Reduction Lead and work with them in evaluate training course programme delivery and to monitor effectiveness including reviewing and making changes to the course content to ensure it meets the need of the service and individual needs.

-       Work closely with clinical teams to identify problems within practice and provide advice, guidance and support to resolve identified issues by improving confidence, competence and promote safe practices within teams.

-       Utilise specialist problem solving skills, advice and guidance on primary, secondary and tertiary issues that may arise in clinical practice. 

Escalate concerns with practice and/or safeguarding issues, complaints, and queries to the Violence Reduction Lead and/or Service Manager

Qualifications

  • PMVA or similar certification
  • UK Driving Licence with access to a vehicle

  • Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards

Experience

  • Experience in delivering Violence Reduction/PMVA
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation such as Mental Health Act (1985/2007), Mental Capacity Act (2005), Health & Safety at Work Act (1974) and the Mental Health Units Use of Force Act (2018) and the impact of legislation upon clinical settings.
  • Sound understanding of the Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) standards.

  • Minimum of 2 year’s experience working within a clinical setting desirably in Mental Health and/or Learning Disability
