Job overview

Are you an enthusiastic, hard-working and patient-focused person, interested in gaining experience within a Hospital Pharmacy?  If so, we have a position at Epsom Hospital to suit you.

We are looking for a keen individual to join our friendly team working in a busy dispensary to help us provide an efficient dispensing service. Previous experience in pharmacy dispensing systems and a NVQ level 2 in pharmacy services is essential.

You will require great customer care skills, enjoy patient contact and must have excellent attention to detail.

The post is based in the Pharmacy Shop dealing with outpatients for the majority of the time but you will be given time in the Inpatient dispensary to ensure upkeep of dispensing skills.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate must be proficient in the use of a computer, have proven organisational skills and demonstrate an attention to detail in their work. Excellent communication skills are essential as you will be working as part of the multi-disciplinary team.

You will play a key role in preparing medicines for our patients. You will also carry out general housekeeping, filing and receptionist duties and undertake daily stock checks.

Hours of work are Monday to Friday 9am to 5:30pm with 60 minutes lunch. You will also participate in the late rota, weekend and Bank Holiday rotas.

To be considered, candidates must hold an NVQ qualification Level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills or an equivalent recognised qualification. Previous hospital experience is not a necessity but enthusiasm for a new challenge and a willingness to learn are key!

Working for our organisation

St George’s, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group cares for a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey. Our sites include St George’s Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).

After years of collaboration, our two Trusts became a hospitals group in 2021. While remaining as two separate Trusts, being a hospitals group will help us to collaborate more closely on research, and the development, education, and training of our 17,000-strong workforce.

So don't delay apply today!
