Newly Qualified Midwife

NHS AfC: Band 5

Job overview

Calling all 3rd Year Student Midwives!

Are you passionate about providing woman-centred care in a forward thinking, innovative unit? Then ASPH is the place for you!

At ASPH you will have the chance to be part of a team that supports 3,000 births a year, working in the picturesque county of Surrey. We are proud to provide a homebirth service, have an amazing alongside birthing centre, have a level 3 NICU and our experience varies from supporting uncomplicated pregnancies to developing care plans for our high risk maternal and fetal medicine service.  We are also among one of the first Trusts nationally to implement biomechanics to support physiological births and reduce the need for intervention.

We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic individuals to join our team and work collaboratively with the MDT to strive towards achieving the highest standards of maternity care.

You will be working in a nurturing environment with your wellbeing and professional development placed at the very centre of your midwifery career.

Our preceptorship programme offers you the opportunity to gain confidence in both the hospital and community setting to help develop your midwifery skills and achieve your band 6 competencies within 18 months of joining the Trust.

Please note this positions salary will be the top of band 5.

Interviews will take place from the 29th July.

Main duties of the job

Successful applicants will be offered a rotational pattern of working to develop their knowledge and skills surrounding low and high-risk maternity care within the hospital and community setting. This developmental post will support you to gain confidence and clinical competencies to achieve your band 6 whilst encouraging you to engage with opportunities for professional development and contribute to service improvement.

Working for our organisation

Ashford and St. Peters Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust serves a population of more than 410,000 people living in North-West Surrey, parts of Hounslow and beyond.

Over 3,700 highly trained doctors, nurses, midwives, therapists, healthcare scientists and other support staff make up our workforce, providing a wide range of services across our two hospital sites, Ashford, Surrey and St Peter's, Chertsey, Surrey.

We also run many specialist clinics in the community and local community hospitals and other healthcare facilities.

Our vision is to be one of the best healthcare Trusts in the country. There has never been a better time to join us in the NHS at ASPH. We are committed to providing continuous professional development, staff benefits and flexibility to shape our workforce around our patient care.

This is an exciting time to join our Trust, as we work on the expansion of our theatres at Ashford Hospital and move towards this becoming our dedicated elective centre. We want to create a state-of-the-art centre for excellence for planned surgical procedures; with care delivered by dedicated, specialist teams in a modern and well-equipped environment.

We hope to use this centre to create an environment of learning and to facilitate training of the next generation of our skilled NHS workforce. Our plans are ambitious - why not, come and be a part of our journey.

Adverts may close early, so applicants are encouraged to submit an application as soon as possible.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
