Job overview

This is an ideal opportunity for a post CCT candidate to work and gain experience in a medium sized District General Hospital.

The successful candidate will be expected to be able to support the General Surgical on call rota, contribute to Colorectal Service provision, and support junior members of the clinical team. There will be opportunities to develop a special interest in several subspecialist areas in Colorectal Surgery.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in service improvement projects, audits, and if they wish, research within the department.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be part of the Colorectal team, supporting the wider General Surgical team on an on-call rota basis. The service is multi-disciplinary, and the post holder is expected to work as part of a health professional team under the supervision of a Consultant Surgeon.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Participate in the development of the clinical services, audits and guidelines.

The post holder will be part of a Team of middle grade Colorectal Surgeons in the department (2 Fellows, 4 Registrars).

On call duties overnight non-resident cover once a week (support by a Consultant) and a rolling weekend rota supporting the Consultant Team.

Essential criteria
  • MBBS or equivalent GMC recognised qualification
  • Full GMC registration
Desirable criteria
  • Post CCT

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Certificate of Completion of Training in General Surgery with a colorectal subspecialty interest
Desirable criteria
  • Publication in peer-reviewed journals

Skills

Essential criteria
