We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated paediatric dietitian to join our team and contribute to the development of the nutrition and dietetics service in the community setting.  This is a great opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in paediatric dietetics.  You will be based at Green Wrythe Lane Clinic in Sutton, working with a mixed caseload of children registered with a Sutton GP, aged 0-18 years.  The clinical caseload includes a variety of dietetic and medical conditions.  There may be some domiciliary and nursery visits and you will be required to deliver relevant education sessions for both parents / carers and other healthcare professionals.

You will be working alongside a Band 6 Paediatric Dietitian and supported by a Band 7 Paediatric Dietitian. There will be opportunities for joint working with paediatric OTs, SLTs and Physios also based in the clinic.

Paediatric experience is essential for this post.  Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn is also important.  Training will be given to support the successful candidate.  This is an excellent opportunity to further your paediatric experience at Band 6 level.

Main duties of the job

·       To be responsible for a defined clinical caseload of children and young people as identified by the service specification, managing this independently and prioritising own workload to ensure effective service provision

·    To provide appropriate specialist dietetic assessment, advice and monitoring for children with general dietetic needs including food allergies.

·      To provide expert advice to patients, carers, and clinicians regarding nutritional intervention for paediatric clients based on clinical evidence.  This will involve nutritional diagnosis (interpretation of biochemistry, anthropometrics, clinical condition and diet history), the development of treatment plans (calculation of nutritional requirements and client-centred goals), prescription of dietary therapy and use of ACBS products where appropriate.

Working for our organisation

The post for Community Paediatric Dietitian sits within Children’s Services and the post holder will be responsible for the nutrition and dietetic management of community paediatric clients registered with a Sutton GP under the care of Sutton Health and Care.
