Job overview

The post holder will be responsible for working on the front line in the Cardiac Cath Lab and  Clinical Investigation Unit at Frimley Health.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the provision of a seamless service to patients and staff within the cardiology footprint.  The post holder will provide a high-quality service to all customers both internal and external to the Trust ensuring reception support in outpatient areas are efficient, with all patients and visitors greeted in a friendly and polite manner.

Main duties of the job

  • To develop and maintain effective working relationships with all Trust staff including clinicians, nursing staff and Directorate administration staff to provide an accurate, efficient, professional and seamless service to patients and visitors.
  • To welcome and check patients into the department as well as check patient details are correct and amend or update details on EPIC when necessary in accordance to standards set by Information Governance.
  • To answer and deal with any queries face to face, via the telephone or via EPIC
  • To liaise with external and internal patient transport

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To greet every patient in a pleasant, professional and calm manner, directing the patient to the appropriate area.
  • To encourage patients in a polite manner to use self-check in machines where applicable, assisting as appropriate.
  • To deal with patients in a polite and respectful manner complying with their requests where possible and where it is not possible to deal with them with dignity and respect.
  • To book patients for blood tests or ECG's as and when required
  • To ensure that clinic outcomes, including attendance, DNA’s and their pathway status are recorded.
  • To be responsible for cashing up, closing outpatients clinics within 24 hours.
  • To adhere to the Trust Access Policy
  • To carry out ad-hoc tasks as required to help the department

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GSCE English or equivalent
  • Microsoft, Outlook, Word, and Excel

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good administrative skills, organised and methodical, with good attention to detail including spelling, grammar and accuracy
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to remain calm under pressure when working in a busy environment
  • Ability to work on own initiative, and also as part of a team, self motivated, flexible approach
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge/use of EPIC

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Dealing with the public/customer service
  • Previous clerical experience
  • Ability to adapt using different systems as appropriate
