We currently have an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking, proactive and highly motivated Receptionist within our Ophthalmology Department for a full- time contract.
You will be working on a busy Ophthalmology Reception based at Ashford Hospital and will be the first point of contact for patients and medical staff.
For this role you will need to be organised and have the ability to deal with busy clinics and demanding situations.
If you have strong customer service skills, excellent clerical and IT skills, and can communicate effectively with both patients and staff we look forward to hearing from you.

Main duties of the job
Using Cerner/SSC to update patient details and register patient attendance.
To follow necessary procedures to ensure clinical / nursing staff are aware of the patient’s arrival. Patients will be directed to the correct waiting area by reception staff.
Ensure all appointments are in the correct episodes and make corrections if necessary.
Escalate to services where outcomes & attendances have not been recorded.
To deal appropriately, calmly, and courteously with telephone enquiries regarding appointments and make necessary amendments. Providing advice and guidance to patients, patient’s relatives, staff and other healthcare colleagues on appointments and other Trust Services.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To work as part of the team, that provides support to the Ophthalmology Department and assists staff in providing an effective service.
To act as the first point of contact for all patients and visitors to the Ophthalmology Department.
Provide administrative support for the Clinical staff and the Clinical Office Administration Team.
To be proficient on Cerner and other hospital computer systems as required.
To liaise with a cross-section and multi-disciplinary team of staff that delivers effective communication and up-to-date systems.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- English GCSE Grade C or equivalent/Computer skills
Experience

- Administrator experience, experience and knowledge of software programs

- NHS experience/Software experience
- Experience of working in a front line position with the general public
