NHS Frimley Integrated Care Board logo

LeDeR Reviewer

NHS Frimley Integrated Care Board was formed on 1 July 2022 under the Health and Care Act 2022, replacing NHS Frimley Clinical Commissioning Group.

The ICB is the new statutory NHS organisation responsible for planning and delivering health and care services. It will work collaboratively with partner organisations including the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector, people and communities across the Frimley Health and Care Integrated Care System (ICS).

We value and promote diversity and are committed to equality of opportunity for all. We believe that the best employers are those that reflect the communities they serve. We want to increase the diversity of our NHS leadership and particularly encourage applications from women, people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities, LGBT communities, younger candidates and from people with lived experience of disability, who we know are all under-represented in these important roles.

We are committed to delivering a trustworthy, flexible and responsible staff culture.

Job overview

We are looking to appoint more than one person based on suitability of applications. Someone with a professional health or social care background with experience at a relatively senior level (Band 7) and a good understanding of the interfaces and connections between acute, primary, community care and the carer / supported living sector. A background in review or investigation work would be a bonus. Ideally, they will have experience in the fields of Learning Disabilities and Autism. Please see the full Job Description for more details. Candidates should have the capacity to take on cases when requested. The hours required vary as there is no fixed / predictable caseload. As a general guide, the minimum may be around 10 hours per month and the maximum around 30 to 40 hours per month, depending on caseload demands. Full training on the LeDeR system and methodology will be provided.

Main duties of the job

One of the key programmes overseen by the ICB is "LeDeR" - Learning from the Lives and Deaths of People with Learning Disabilities (LD) and / or Autistic People. Established in 2017 and funded by NHS England and NHS Improvement, LeDeR works to:

  • Improve care for people with a learning disability and autistic people.
  • Reduce health inequalities for people with a learning disability and autistic people.
  • Prevent people with a learning disability and autistic people from early deaths

Deaths of people with LD and / or Autistic people who were registered with a GP in the Frimley are notified to the ICB by the national programme team and allocated by the ICB to a local reviewer who conducts either an initial review of the case or, if triggered, a focused review. The ICB uses a pool of bank reviewers to handle these cases, and we are looking to add to this pool with an additional post.
