Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly regarded team working with a team of 27 Consultants that provide care within Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

The post-holder will be required to provide the full range of obstetric skills such as managing the Labour Ward, Section Lists and Maternity Assessment Unit in collaboration with existing consultants.  Attending Gynaecology Endometriosis MDT’s, having independent Gynaecology outpatient clinics and theatre lists.  It is essential that the post holder should have an ATSM in benign Gynaecology and Labour Ward.

 UHNM is a one of the biggest stand-alone maternity units in the country delivering over 7000 deliveries per annum with a level 3 neonatal unit on site.  

The post holder will provide continuing responsibility for patients in their charge and will work within a team based structure to support care across both hospital sites.  He / She will be a member of the relevant divisional, trust and regional committees.  He / She will also be expected to participate in the immediate management functions and strategic planning of the Division and Trusts on both sites.

This post is based at University Hospital of North Midlands.  Clinical Duties will be across both the Royal Stoke and County Hospital Sites with a total of 9.9881PA’s.  You will participate in an Obstetric 1:12 weekday on-call  and 1:12 Weekend  Obstetric rota and a Gynae weekend on-call 1:22 and Gynae Weekday on-call 1:24.

Qulifications

Essential criteria
  • Full GMC Registration
  • MRCOG or appropriate specialist qualification
  • CCST or equivalent (‘equivalence’ must be confirmed by PMETB/GMC by date of AAC)
  • Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of date of the AAC
  • ATSM - Advanced Labour Ward / High risk antenatal
  • ATSM - Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery
Desirable criteria
  • Other higher degree or diploma (e.g., MD, PhD, FRCS)

Clinical Experience & Training

Essential criteria
  • Evidence to allow accreditation as a Consultant Clinical Supervisor for trainee doctors with the GMC
  • Evidence of competence in advanced endometriosis surgery
  • Experience in multiple surgical modalities – laparoscopic/robotic/open.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of clinical supervision and mentorship
