The post is based in the IMMUNOLOGY laboratory which is part of North Midlands Cheshire Pathology Service (NMCPS) at the ROYAL STOKE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL.
Main duties of the job
The Immunology team has taken on additional work as part of the NMCPS network and we are looking for MLA staff for the following duties.
Sample reception , sample handling and use of laboratory IT system. (The laboratory has recently implementing Winpath Enterprise LIMS))
Referring samples to other specialist laboratories and inputting results received . Following up outstanding referred work.
Assisting with maintenance of equipment and stock control.
Dealing with calls to the laboratory, and following written protocols .

Essential Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Evidence of Good standard of Education provided/demonstrated by GCSE A-C Maths , English and a Science
- Relevant NVQ2 level 2 or equivalent/ IBMS Certificate of Achievement.
- Awareness of Health & Safety matters
Experience
Essential criteria
- Familiarity with IT systems
- Experience of working in a team and alone
Desirable criteria
- Experience of high volume data entry
Skills
Essential criteria
- Effective and accurate communication skills
- Demonstrates basic level of knowledge of the role
Desirable criteria
- Effectively applies previous experience and skills to this role
