Locum Consultant in Dermatology

Job overview
This post is a fixed term locum consultant dermatologist post from 1 September 2024 to 31 March 2025 with a view to substantive funding being identified.
The post-holder will be expected to participate in sessions at both main sites, the Royal Stoke University Hospital and the County Hospital, Stafford, and with the other Dermatologists will provide a Dermatology Service for the population of Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire. This includes all aspects of diagnosis, management and treatment together with ensuring the proper functioning of the department.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will join a current team of 6 including two Consultant and 4 Senior Medical Practitioners along with a unit of dedicated Dermatology nurses and Clinical Nurse Specialists. The successful applicant will play a part in the Skin MDT and the department has close links to the Oncology and histopathology units and the Consultant and Senior Medical Practitioners are members of the Specialist Skin MDT unit. The team participates in outpatient clinics, theatre sessions and Ward rounds at Royal Stoke and in the new skin department at County which also includes a minor operating procedure suite.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MRCP (UK) or equivalent
- Full GMC Registration
Desirable criteria
- Other higher degree or diploma (e.g.MD)
Experience
Essential criteria
- Clinical training experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT
- Expertise in full range of dermatological conditions
- Experience in skin surgery
- Independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
Desirable criteria
- Sub-specialty interest
Academic Achievements, Research, Publications:
Essential criteria
- Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit. Must have undertaken and completed audit projects
- Experience of clinical research.

- Publication of relevant review articles & case reports
Management and Administrative Experience:

- Experience working with Management
