Service Manager (Band 8A) for the Acute & Urgent Care Directorate – 12 - Fixed Term Position:

Do you want to be part of an innovative and collaborative Senior Leadership Team? The Acute & Urgent Care Directorate are looking for internal applicants for the Service Manager post for the Crisis Care Service Line.  This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to develop their leadership skills and drive some exciting developments within a complex and fast-paced environment.

The wider Leadership Team will support you to ensure we continue to maintain high quality, patient focused services in line with our national and locally agreed targets.

The right candidates will have leadership and managerial responsibility for the ‘day to day’ needs of the service within their portfolio, they will contribute to service improvements and business opportunities and work with varying stakeholders to support and develop these.

The post holder will be responsible for the operational, performance and business management of their delegated service areas. The post holder will work under the direction and line management of the Associate Director, with a secondary reporting line to the Clinical Director

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Under direction from the Associate Director provide support to the Clinical Director in developing and implementing long term service strategy and policies within the Directorate, including annual, three year and five year business plans that fully reflect the direction and service needs of the Trust. These must be in line with corporate strategies of stakeholders and link directly to relevant legislation as well as national and local healthcare guidance and initiatives.

Responsible for the interpretation and implementation of broad policies and NHS guidance, contribute to all relevant corporate policies and strategy, developing services locally in line with them.

Coordinate service objectives ensuring relevance to local and national priorities.

Contribute to Directorate business plans – the development of appropriate operational, financial, market assessment and workforce plans for service areas with the appropriate involvement of managers, clinicians and the wider workforce.

Involve service users and carers in the development and planning of services.
