Job overview
The mental health Social Care pathway is an integral part of MPFT’s community mental health services providing a recovery focussed service to the people of Staffordshire aged 16 and over who are experiencing significant and disabling functional mental health difficulties, and supporting their recovery journey.
We have strong partnerships with local independent service providers and voluntary agencies and pride ourselves on providing a responsive and effective service to the communities of South Staffordshire.
Main duties of the job
We currently have opportunities for three duty workers in the Mental Health Social Care Pathway covering the whole of Staffordshire (not including Stoke-on-Trent).
Dependent on an individual’s location and preference we will be in a position to negotiate work-base with them - the Social Care Pathway has accommodation in Stafford, Cannock, Newcastle-under-Lyme and Lichfield but also employs a hybrid working model including working from home where appropriate.
The post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, their primary role to facilitate the triage of people referred into the AMH Social Care pathway, processing enquiries received via clinical systems, by phone and e-mail and completing other work as required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and innovative individual who possesses excellent communication and organisational skills and has a basic awareness of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Mental Health Act 1983.
The successful candidate must be a team player with excellent communication and IT skills.
Social Work Learning Academy (SWLA)
On appointment, the post holder will be auto-enrolled in the SWLA and aligned to the appropriate British Association of Social Work Professional Capabilities Framework. The relevant SWLA ‘stage’ (i.e. stage 1 (ASYE), 2 (Social Worker) or 3 (Advanced Social Worker) will also be agreed taking all prior Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and relevant experience into consideration. The post holder will be required to take responsibility for their own Continuous Professional Development.

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- Possesses a recognised basic IT qualification (ECDL or equivalent) or can display IT skills to an equivalent level of competence
- Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care or equivalent and willing to undertake additional qualifications in Health and Social Care
- A clear understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice
Desirable criteria
- NVQ 3 or Level 3 Diploma in a related subject, e.g. Customer Care or Business Administration
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous customer care experience. Able to work within a Team environment and contribute effectively to Team / Service development.
Desirable criteria
- Lived experience either as a person who has used services or as a carer Previous experience in a similar role.
- Previous experience of setting up office/ administrative systems.
- Previous NHS Experience preferably working within a health and social care environment with a focus on mental health
- Customer Service Qualification
