Job overview

Children and Young People's Services in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin have received additional investment to improve the support available. As a result, we are excited to advertise a number of new roles, and expand our workforce and Multi-Disciplinary Teams.

The Team Manager for the Mental Health Learning Disability and Intensive Support Teams within CAMHS (known locally as BeeU), will manage the team providing support for Children and Young People 5-18 with Learning Disability or Autism across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin. 

In the role you will have day to day responsibility for the operational management and delivery of Learning Disability and Intensive Support Team across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin. You will ensure that a high quality service is delivered within this specialist area and that all National and Trust targets and standards are adhered to including the recording of information within the IT systems. 

You will be responsible for the management of staff within the team, leadership, the delivery and delegation of management supervision and ensuring appropriate clinical / professional supervision takes place as per Trust Policy.  In conjunction with the service lead and multi professional partners they will develop the provision and quality of services for patients. This will demonstrably reflect the principles of clinical governance, clinical effectiveness, cost effectiveness as well as Trust and National Policy.

Main duties of the job

  • To engage in and support the development of policies, procedures and working practices within the team.
  • Work collaboratively with the Service Lead, and clinical team in the planning and delivery of the service.
  • To ensure that all Trust policies and guidelines are adhered to and provide guidance to clinical staff regarding implementation.
  • To support the local implementation/development of National strategies and to initiate change and practice development.
  • To manage designated team
  • Maintain the achievement of Key Performance Indicators and Quality Standards.
  • Day to day line management responsibility for staff working within the service including management of sickness, performance, recruitment and appraisals.
  • To promote, develop, implement and manage clinical standards and good practices within their sphere of responsibility.
  • To be a visible, consistent presence in the multi-disciplinary team.
  • To be open and accountable to service users and carers and to promote a positive approach to person centred care.
  • To ensure the use of and adhere to the policies and processes.
  • To ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are implemented.
  • To contribute to the clinical delivery of the service.
  • To provide appropriate advice to team staff, multi-disciplinary and Management Groups.
  • To monitor and evaluate practice based on contemporary and current trends and initiate changes in the light of these findings.

Person specification

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • First level professional nursing, midwifery or allied health professional with the appropriate governing body, such as the HCPC/BABCP/Social Work England/RCN/ etc.
Desirable criteria
  • PG qualification in Neurodevelopmental Assessment or CYPMH
  • ADOS / ADIR / Similar training

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Clinical experience within a CYP Neurodevelopmental or CAMHS setting
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams, direct line management experience, use of systems such as healthroster

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Higher level clinical skills in the assessment, treatment and management of patients (preferably children) regarding Autism and/or ADHD.
  • Demonstratable management and supervision skills
