With services in the portfolio spanning Child and Adolescent Mental Health and perinatal mental health, but also including bespoke, targeted family-focussed services in partnership with our Local Authorities, the opportunities for creativity, innovation and delivering improved health and wellbeing outcomes at scale are plentiful.

Set in the wider context of being employed by an organisation who is the best performing Trust in Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent and Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin during 2023 staff survey, with attractive incentive and relocation packages possible for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for setting the long-term strategic direction, business plans and objectives for the Children & Family Services and ensuring achievement of strategic objectives.
  • Responsible for developing effective working relationships with commissioners and partner agencies across an unstable and challenged health economy.
  • Responsible for management of the Children & Family Services income (circa £11m) and overseeing management and leadership of the Children & Family Services workforce ( 150 WTE)
  • Responsible for the performance of the Children & Family Services, including achievement of key performance indicators, identifying risks to performance and taking action to mitigate risks

Working for our organisation

Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin is a large area in the West Midlands, bordering Mid-Wales.  It is centred around six main towns being Shrewsbury to the West and Telford to the East.  Oswestry, Ludlow, Market Drayton and Bridgnorth are smaller picturesque market towns.  Shropshire is one of the least crowded and most peaceful areas of England.  It has a long history of wild border conflicts which have left a legacy of atmospheric hill forts, earthworks and castles.  The county is well served with excellent schools in both the public and private sectors. There is much to offer with unspoilt countryside, historic towns, good food, exercise and entertainment.  With great network links the County is commutable from the Midlands with easy access via the M54.
