Job overview

     The Pre-admission management service (PreAMS) at UHNM has a strong commitment to innovation and is rapidly evolving to meet patient need. There is a sharp focus on supporting the Trust to meet the requirements of both NHS contracts and GIRFT recommendations. 

      The service has a workforce of over 70 staff staff across two hospital sites.

      The post holder will oversee the day-to-day management of the service,   implementing new policies and directives within the context of peri-operative care at UHNM.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a strong clinical leader, with excellent managerial skills who can demonstrate expertise within the specialty. The successful candidate should hold strong leadership qualities to ensure safe quality care is provided to our patient group, is able to maintain and improve staff morale and team working and is able to encourage a positive learning environment.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, flexible, committed to the provision of excellent standards of care, a good communicator, and motivated to build on existing professional development.

This post is a full time post, predominantly working Monday - Friday but some weekend working may be required. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly across both Royal Stoke and County hospitals on a weekly basis. 

Essential requirements for the post are:

  • First level NMC registration
  • 3 years post registration experience of which 12 months will be have been as a  Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager with 18 months experience in the cardiology environment
  • Degree level study
  • Mentorship or equivalent qualification.
  • Evidence of excellent attendance

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will oversee the day-to-day management of the service,   implementing new policies and directives within the context of peri-operative care at UHNM.

The successful candidate will work as a Senior Sister/charge Nurse within an established Service, monitoring and evaluating current care, whilst participating in the development of new ways of working and practices both clinical and administrative to enhance the excellent service we currently provide. They will be expected to participate in innovative & evidence-based nursing practice through professional leadership and play a pivotal role in leading the clinical team to develop and deliver safe care. Working closely with the Directorate team to support the wider organisational goals and provide unit efficiencies.

  • Evidence of Degree level study in nursing/health related
  • Formal leadership/management study
  • Mentorship/Teaching qualification
  • NMC/HCPC registration
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Qualification in Health assessment

  • Experience working within a pre-operative assessment department
  • Evidence of Masters level study
  • NMP qulaification

Experience
