A vacancy has arisen for two Registered Biomedical Scientists based in Haematology and Blood Transfusion at Macclesfield District General Hospital.

Knowledge, skills & experience

- Previous experience of working in a Laboratory environment
- Demonstrate broad knowledge of Haematology techniques
- Understand the role of diagnostic Haematology in a clinical setting
- Familiarity with IT systems in Pathology
- Experience of working in a team and alone
- Excellent keyboard skills and attention to detail
- Good manual dexterity skills and co-ordination
- Experience of working to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP); contributing to their review and implementation
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workload and work to deadlines.
- Communicate effectively and accurately, face to face, written, and by phone with colleagues and users of the service
Qualifications

- BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science or equivalent
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

- Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) Specialist Diploma in Haematology & Blood Transfusion or equivalent

- Prepared to work flexibly, including participation in a 7 day, 24 hour shift pattern

- Ability and willingness to fulfil the travel requirements of the post - primary place of work as per JD but on rare occasion may be asked to work at another site where the Trust has responsibility for Pathology services.
