We are looking for a Paediatric Physiotherapy Assistant to join our friendly and innovative Paediatric Physiotherapy Team based in North Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent. 

You will be joining an established team providing intervention for children and young people with physical difficulties aged 0-19 years.

We work in partnership with families and carers in a variety of settings including special and mainstream schools, patient’s homes, and community clinics. We work with other professionals including Community Paediatricians, other therapists, the social care teams and education professionals. 

As a community team, we cover a large geographical area, so a UK driving licence and access to a car for work purposes will be essential. Mileage and parking expenses will be reimbursed. The base for this post will be at Hazel Trees, Duke Street, Fenton, ST4 3NR but travel to other locations will be a standard and regular requirement.

You will be part of our nonregistered clinical team and will work under the direction of the qualified physiotherapy staff to carry out delegated tasks, MPFT are committed to the continued development of the nonregistered workforce

As highlights of the role, you will be expected to but not limited to:

  • Undertake specific skilled paediatric physiotherapy support work with children and families (aged birth to 25 years) with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychosocial conditions, ensuring most efficient use of skills, time and resources.
  • To support the physiotherapists in their role in discharge planning, carrying out environmental visits, ordering equipment, liaising with family and other agencies as required.
  • To apply skills knowledge and competencies to recognise any change in the needs of the Child or Young person (CYP) and feedback to the registered practitioner
  • To work without direct supervision but under the direction of the qualified staff, undertaking tasks delegated by a qualified therapist, and taking responsibility for lone working
  • To manage and prioritise a delegated/shared caseload. 
  • To establish and maintain effective working relationships and good communication both within the Trust and with external partners e.g. education. To maintain sensitivity at all times to the emotional needs off the CYP and their families/carers offering reassurance and empathy.

  • GCSE grade C (min) or equivalent in literacy and numeracy. NVQ level 2/3 or equivalent in related subject Evidence of/willing to undertake training relevant to the post
