Job overview

The Social Care pathway provides a recovery focussed service to the people of South Staffordshire aged 16 and over who are experiencing significant and disabling functional mental health difficulties and support their recovery journey as core members of the integrated mental health pathways.

 

We are supported by strong partnerships with local independent service providers and voluntary agencies and pride ourselves on providing a responsive, reflective and effective service to the communities of South Staffordshire.

 

We currently have opportunities for 3 Level 1 social care professionals and would welcome applications from qualified social workers who are registered with Social work England.

Main duties of the job

We will support newly qualified social workers to complete their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) and it is also an expectation of the role that, in due course, the successful candidate will complete AMHP training as part of their career progression which is supported by the Social Work Learning Academy.

 

Dependent on an individual’s location and preference we will be in a position to negotiate work-base with them.  

 

The Social Care Pathway in South Staffordshire currently has accommodation in Stafford, Cannock and Lichfield.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We are looking for enthusiastic, proactive and innovative individuals who possesses excellent communication and organisational skills and have a good working knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Mental Health Act 1983. 

 

The successful candidates must be team players with excellent communication and IT skills.

 

On appointment, the post holder will be auto-enrolled in the SWLA and aligned to the appropriate British Association of Social Work Professional Capabilities Framework.  The relevant SWLA ‘stage’ (i.e. stage 1 (ASYE), 2 (Social Worker) or 3 (Advanced Social Worker) will also be agreed taking all prior Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and relevant experience into consideration. The post holder will be required to take responsibility for their own Continuous Professional Development.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • Professional Social Work qualification, DipSW, CQSW, CSS, BA, MA or Foreign qualification where certified by the Professional Social Work regulatory body
  • Ensuring current registration with the Professional Social Work regulatory body at all times
  • A commitment to on-going personal and professional development
  • To undergo appropriate training to achieve Assessed Year in Practice (ASYE)
  • Good keyboard / IT skills including word processing, spreadsheets, email and PowerPoint
  • A clear understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with Adults and older Adults with mental health needs and their carers
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of social work in other user groups/settings i.e. Children and Families, Learning Disability, Mental Health.
