Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapy Team as a support worker.

You play an essential role in providing a high standard of quality care and a robust service by supporting the registered practitioner in the preparation and delivery of care and support packages with some administrative duties.

You will be work in conjunction with the registered practitioner to review and progress agreed treatments and discharge patients. This role includes a minimum of 75% clinical work with the need to adapt to unpredictable changes and demands in the service.

Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to travel independently across the geographical areas of Tamworth, Seisdon and Lichfield.

Main duties of the job

You will work independently in clinic settings to complete simple mobility and musculoskeletal Physiotherapy assessments and formulate treatment plans, which can be reviewed and progressed through to discharge.

As part of this role you will also be expect to:

·       With direction from the Registered Physiotherapist, will be able to represent the service at agreed meetings, provide the necessary clinical input and supervision/ mentorship of Band 3 physiotherapy support workers.

·       Support and assist qualified and unregistered staff in the provision of a high quality Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy service. 

·       Work with colleagues of all disciplines in the provision of a multidisciplinary health and social care service.

·       Work to the professional standards of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and within the scope of the protocols for the service.

·       Assess mobility and simple movement problems, problem solve, treat, review and discharge patients using clinical expertise, using wide-ranging skills and knowledge necessary for the post.

·       To assist in the provision of continuing professional development training, advising and supporting staff at Band 3 levels or below within the team or service.

·       To ensure high standards of clinical practice, maintaining experience of caseload management.

Qualifications & Training

Essential criteria
  • • GCSE (A-C) English and Maths or equivalent
  • • NVQ Level 3 in related subject area or equivalent. Appropriate level of experience and knowledge.
  • • Evidence of/willing to undertake training relevant to the post.
  • • Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • • Evidence of post qualification training relevant to Musculoskeletal working in related subject or willingness to work towards

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Minimum of 2 years work experience as a Band 3 within the NHS.
Desirable criteria
  • • Previous experience of working in a Musculoskeletal setting
  • • Previous experience of lone working
  • • Evidence of multi-disciplinary team working

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

Essential criteria
  • • Have evidence to show a good range of prior clinical experience
