Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Lead within East Staffordshire.  The role will compliment that of the Operational Manager and Operational Leads and the Band 6 caseload holders. The focus will be on developing competencies in practice and upskilling staff, rota planning, induction of new starters, clinical supervision of staff, joint visits and identifying areas for quality improvement. You will work alongside the Operational Manager to embed changes in the team and supporting staff through this.

The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday 9-5 but would be expected to support the nursing teams as required.

We are looking for an experienced Diabetic Care Technician/ISW or the equivalent community experience, who has the ability and clinical knowledge to support the Registered Nurses with in the team. This role will help the patients and staff  to be educated within diabetes especially carrying out DESMOND teaching sessions.  You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as you will be dealing with a variety of patients, colleagues and voluntary services within different settings.

Main duties of the job

·       The Diabetes Care Technician (DCT) will support the Diabetes Service in providing high standards of supervised care to adults with Diabetes.

·       Care will be delivered within the patient’s own home or within a clinic setting.

·       All care will be under the supervision of qualified nursing staff and qualified staff are available for guidance as required – either directly or indirectly.

·       The post holder will be required to deliver care independently but will be monitored on an ongoing basis by trained staff with competencies regularly updated.

·       The post may involve lone health care working.

·       Ensure administrative support for registered health care professionals.

·       The post involves the performance of standard clinical assessments in line with procedural documentation.
