Pre Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician
70% of band 4

This is a Trainee Pharmacy Technician post that will be based in a hospital that provides physical or mental health services. Your position would either be based solely in the hospital or split between hospital and community pharmacy. A role in pharmacy can bring the opportunity to help some of the most vulnerable people in our society and make a real difference to patients, their families and whole communities.
Throughout your training role you will play a key part in ensuring that patients get the right treatment at the right time.
The successful post-holder will follow a comprehensive two-year training programme under a Technical Service rotation covering all aspects of hospital/community pharmacy; to include rotations within the wards, procurement, receiving and validating prescriptions, issuing medicines, dispensing prescriptions, medicines management as well as the requirement to undertake accuracy checking training.
A combination of both off and on the job training will be provided to enable the trainee Pharmacy Technician to achieve the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practices for Pharmacy, this is the qualification you will need to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

During this two year training program, you will learn the knowledge and skills, which you will need to become a Registered Pharmacy Technician. You will be given study time to achieve the knowledge component of the training program and you will develop your skills by undertaking on the job training.
You will be expected to dispense medication, undertake medicine management duties, replenish and maintain stock and support the dispensary and ward staff.
This is a demanding role and will require study both in work and in your own time. The expectation is that you manage your time to facilitate the completion of your studies. You will receive full support from an Educational Supervisor and qualified pharmacy assessors to complete the qualification.

Must be aged 16 or above.
Must have been resident in the UK/EU for the last 3 years.
