Deputy Service Lead Pharmacist – Band 8a (Haywood Hospital)

The Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation Directorate are looking for a Senior Clinical Pharmacist to join the team for 37.5 hours per week on a 12 months fixed term contract covering maternity leave.

Based at Haywood Hospital, you will be working as part of a well-supported team of clinical pharmacists leading and driving the development of the clinical and operational pharmacy services. This role will be extremely rewarding, and requires a motivated, dynamic individual who is experienced in working at operational level with a range of stakeholders and a track record for service development and delivering to agreed targets. Main duties of the job

JOB PURPOSE:

The post involves a significant clinical role with ward visits and input to consultant ward rounds / team meetings, directorate support, as well as a substantial training and management element. The post holder will also be required to support the Deputy Director of Pharmacy in redesigning and transforming Pharmacy services across the physical health portfolio.

• Responsible for clinical professional leadership, management and development of pharmaceutical services and delivery of safe, effective and efficient Pharmacy services to patients within a robust clinical governance framework across Mental Health.
• Responsible for all aspects of medicines management to optimise patients care involving the use of medication including but not limited to drug expenditure reporting, safety quality issues, audit, teaching and research & development portfolios.
• Support the Pharmacy Heads of Service in promoting and propagating service change and transformation Responsible within Pharmacy (Mental Health Services).
• Create and deliver a broad Pharmacy service audit plan, and to ensure adequate dissemination of reports and proposals to stakeholders internal and external to pharmacy.
• To manage staff in-line with current team structure; this includes regular 1:1 supervision meetings to ascertain progress with current and ongoing service issues and to set objectives relating to personal development.
• To deputise for the Service Clinical Lead Pharmacist, Physical Health Services.
