The Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation Directorate are looking for a Senior Clinical Pharmacist to join the team for 37.5 hours per week on a 12 months fixed term contract covering maternity leave.

Based at Haywood Hospital, you will be working as part of a well-supported team of clinical pharmacists leading and driving the development of the clinical and operational pharmacy services. Main duties of the job

JOB PURPOSE:

The post involves a significant clinical role with ward visits and input to consultant ward rounds / team meetings, directorate support, as well as a substantial training and management element. The post holder will also be required to support the Deputy Director of Pharmacy in redesigning and transforming Pharmacy services across the physical health portfolio.

• Responsible for clinical professional leadership, management and development of pharmaceutical services and delivery of safe, effective and efficient Pharmacy services to patients within a robust clinical governance framework across Mental Health.
• Responsible for all aspects of medicines management to optimise patients care involving the use of medication including but not limited to drug expenditure reporting, safety quality issues, audit, teaching and research & development portfolios.
• Support the Pharmacy Heads of Service in promoting and propagating service change and transformation Responsible within Pharmacy (Mental Health Services).
• Create and deliver a broad Pharmacy service audit plan, and to ensure adequate dissemination of reports and proposals to stakeholders internal and external to pharmacy.
• To manage staff in-line with current team structure; this includes regular 1:1 supervision meetings to ascertain progress with current and ongoing service issues and to set objectives relating to personal development.
• To deputise for the Service Clinical Lead Pharmacist, Physical Health Services.

You will be a qualified pharmacist registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and have excellent interpersonal and IT skills. Some mentor or management experience is desirable, but full training in this area will be provided. This is a full time post although part time hours or a job share will be considered.

The working hours are 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday with limited late shift duties and Bank Holiday commitments. This provides a fantastic work life balance whilst being a valued member of the Pharmacy Medicines Optimisation Team. On call commitments include a remote out-of-hours advice only 'on call' service (rota basis). The post holder may be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • Pharmacy degree (Masters level or Bachelor’s level and equivalent experience)
  • Registered UK Pharmacist (GPhC)
  • Post graduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent post graduate Certificate and/ or Diploma in Psychiatric Pharmacy or accreditation with College of Mental Health Pharmacists
Desirable criteria
  • Accredited Membership of RPS
  • Management/Leadership qualification relevant to the NHS (or equivalent experience)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Substantial experience post registration
  • Extensive experience of providing pharmacy services

  • Competent in a wide range of software
  • Staff, service and resource management
