Job overview

You will be part of the Haywood Allied Health Professionals (AHP) portfolio and lead the Haywood Dietetics Service, undertaking a highly specialist senior role in planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating the Dietetic Service. 

This is a dynamic post & requires the post holder to work predominantly in the Haywood hospital but may be required to work within other community hospital sites and settings and nursing homes as service demands require. The post holder will work closely with Haywood management team, AHP & dietetic leads and many multidisciplinary teams including Rehabilitation teams, D2A teams, community stroke, Social care Teams, Community Intermediate Care, Respiratory Teams, and Diabetes Teams and agencies to lead & deliver an effective and safe dietetic service across adult inpatient wards at the Haywood and community Hospitals. The post holder will hold & manage a highly specialist clinical case load within the Haywood and community hospitals settings.

Main duties of the job

1.     Be responsible for a defined caseload of highly specialist caseload of inpatient service users within within stroke and / or rehabilitation medicine.

2.     Be skilled in the assessment of complex/specialist care/support needs and in the development, implementation and evaluation of care/support packages for patients and families

3.     Have leadership, supervisory and training responsibilities and will have responsibility for team performance and service developments/improvements.

4.     Demonstrate initiative and be creative in finding solutions to problems.

5.     Work with Haywood service leads and other dietetic & AHP leads undertaking delegated tasks in team management and service provision.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

1.     Provide quality driven, evidence based dietetic & nutrition support interventions within the Haywood Dietetic service.

2.     Be competent as appropriate to the requirements of the role.

3.     Demonstrate at all times the Partnership Trusts Values and Behaviours

4.     Be an Advanced Dietitian and have a detailed professional and clinical knowledge. The post holder will be an advanced clinical practitioner and have a focus on Nutrition Support, enteral feeding & therapeutic dietetics within stroke and / or rehabilitation medicine.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent.
  • • Post Graduate BDA accredited courses in dietetics such as PENG
  • • Registration with HCPC. • Registration with the BDA
Desirable criteria
  • • Masters qualification or modules completed in relevant area that will support the delivery of the service.
  • • Further clinical study relevant to clinical practice such as life limiting conditions and complex long term conditions management.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Significant experience in the clinical specialism including assessment and management of specialist dietetic interventions in long term conditions and disease
  • • Supporting service users, families and carers in dealing with clinical conditions and disability through dietary interventions

Skills

Essential criteria
  • • Evidence of expert/advanced clinical knowledge relevant to the post.
  • • Knowledge of relevant NSF’s and NICE guidance
  • • Interpret the findings of healthcare investigations
  • • Critically appraise clinical information and evidence
