We will support you to further develop with the aim to become an experienced Recovery Worker over a 12-18 month period. You will be expected to work with a caseload of substance use clients from the beginning, with the aim to expand this as the role progresses.
The disconnect between services for people with co-occurring conditions of mental ill-health and substance use has long been recognised as a barrier to the effective treatment of patients in the community. Significant funding has now been allocated to make this a thing of the past.

Main duties of the job
Trainee Recovery Worker positions with the development to support you to become Recovery Workers.
The post will be located in North Hampshire with possible bases of Winchester, Andover and Basingstoke
By working with our partners in Community Mental Health services and Primary Care Networks, we aim to deliver truly person-centred care to those experiencing co-occurring conditions.

- You will be working with the service users and multi-agency team members to support the delivery of Recovery focussed outcomes by promoting and creating opportunities in visible recovery, harm reduction and brief interventions.
- The training role will lend itself to someone who hasn’t previously worked within this type of setting but has related qualifications and is looking to gain experience working within this field.
- To learn about local services and empower service users to build their community networks and recovery capital through partnership working
- To promote visible and contagious recovery in the reception areas of the hub.
- To shadow team members carrying out their duties to facilitate own learning.
- Provide harm reduction advice, information and support with an emphasis on safer drug use, mental health management techniques, safer sex, HIV, Hepatitis A,B and C and other blood borne infections
Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Level 3 NVQ or Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent in a related field which may include counselling, social work, nursing, psychology, human resources, social studies Or Equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- Relevant training / Qualification in associated field • CBT • Motivational Interviewing • Brief solution focussed therapy • Mapping techniques (ITEP/BTEI)
Experience
Essential criteria
- A commitment to recovery based interventions and harm reduction approaches for substance misuse and mental health conditions.
